The distillation head was replaced with a reflux condenser and the solution heated at reflux for 5 h. The reaction was cooled then concentrated in vacuo. The basic aqueous layer was extracted with EtOAc (2x) and then acidified to pH 3 with conc. HCl. The aqueous layer was extracted with EtOAc (3x) and the combined extracts were dried over MgSO4 and concentrated.
