The development of transition-metal free systems for multi-sites deuteration is important for the preparation of deuterium-labeled drugs and intermediates e.g, d-agomelatine. The ionic liquid [bmim]PF6, which was able to promote highly efficient deuterodeborylation of boronic acids RB(OH)2 [R = thianthren-1-yl, 1-benzothiophen-2-yl, 4-formyl-2-methoxyphenyl, etc.] with D2O was reported.
