P-diethynylbenzene-based mol. wires, [Fe]-CC-p-C6H2X2-CC-[Fe] (3; [Fe] = FeCp*(dppe)), were prepared from reactions of cyclopentadienyliron chloride with diethynylbenzenes and their wire-like performance is estimated from the KC and Vab values.
