Efficient oil adsorption and recovery is a generous universal importance for future energy demand and environmental protection. Adsorbents based on 2D flatland with engineered surfaces can overcome the limitations of conventional methods for selective oil adsorption. Here, we report magnetic hydrophobic/oleophilic graphitic C3N4 nanosheets that exhibit excellent oil sorption performance and rapid removal of adsorbed oil using an external magnet. Combining porous and nanosheets structure along with magnetic FeNi3 and fatty acid surface functionalization make the system an efficient adsorbent for adsorbing and separating crude oil from water. The graphitic sheets selectively adsorb crude oil with enhancement of thickness up to 9 folds and mass by 4.5 times than the pristine nanocomposite system. The smart adsorption property of g-C3N4@FeNi3 has been realized through comprehensive adsorption kinetics and inclusive isotherm studies. The nanocomposite can be further recycled and reused in an eco-friendly manner for oil adsorption and recovery.

The comprehensive identification of organic species existing in indoor environments is a key issue to understand their impact in human health. This study proposes the analysis of condensed water samples, collected with portable dehumidifiers, to characterize semi-volatile compounds in the gas phase of confined areas. Water samples are concentrated by solid-phase extraction (SPE). The obtained extracts are analysed by gas chromatography (GC) time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOF-MS), following a nontarget screening data mining approach. In first term, spectra of deconvoluted compounds are compared with those in NIST low resolution library; thereafter, tentative identifications are verified using an inhouse database of accurate electron ionization (EI) MS spectra. Chromatographic (retention index) and spectral data are combined for unambiguous species identification. The potential of condensed water samples to reflect changes in the composition of indoor atmospheres, the match between data obtained using different dehumidifiers, and the relative concentration efficiency of condensed water compared to that attained by active sampling of moderate air volumes are discussed. A total of 141 semi-volatile compounds were identified (98 confirmed against authentic standards) in a set of 21 samples obtained from different homes and working places. This list contains more than 40 fragrances (including several potential allergens), solvents and intermediates in the production of polymeric materials, plasticizers and flame retardants. A mild, atom-economic, and metal-free alpha-C-H amination of ethers using relatively stable nonafluorobutanesulfonyl (nonaflyl, Nf) azide as the aminating reagent to give N-sulfonyl hemiaminals is reported. This enables unprecedented C(sp(3)) difunctionalization reactions, leading to diverse functionalized amino group containing compounds starting from simple ethers in one pot.

Transition metal-catalyzed single bond metathesis has recently emerged as a useful strategy for functional group transfer. In this work, we explored the mechanism and reactivity profile of Pd/PhI-cocatalyzed C-P bond metathesis between aryl phosphines using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The overall single bond metathesis involves two Pd(ii)-catalyzed C-P reductive eliminations and two Pd(0)-catalyzed C-P oxidative additions, which allows the reversible C-P bond cleavage and formation of the phosphonium cation. Distortion/interaction analysis indicates that the facile C-P bond cleavage and formation of the phosphonium cation are due to the involvement of coordinating aryl phosphine in the process. In addition, the substituent effects on the reaction kinetics and thermodynamics of metathesis were computed, which provides helpful mechanistic information for the design of related single bond metathesis reactions.

Properties and Exciting Facts About Benzyl ether

Welcome to talk about 103-50-4, If you have any questions, you can contact Woiski, C; Dobslaw, D; Engesser, KH or send Email.. Name: Benzyl ether

Name: Benzyl ether. I found the field of Biotechnology & Applied Microbiology very interesting. Saw the article Isolation and characterization of 2-butoxyethanol degrading bacterial strains published in 2020, Reprint Addresses Woiski, C (corresponding author), Univ Stuttgart, Inst Sanit Engn Water Qual & Solid Waste Manageme, Dept Biol Waste Air Purificat, Bandtaele 2, D-70569 Stuttgart, Germany.. The CAS is 103-50-4. Through research, I have a further understanding and discovery of Benzyl ether.

A total of 11 bacterial strains capable of completely degrading 2-butoxyethanol (2-BE) were isolated from forest soil, a biotrickling filter, a bioscrubber, and activated sludge, and identified by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. Eight of these strains belong to the genus Pseudomonas; the remaining three strains are Hydrogenophaga pseudoflava BOE3, Gordonia terrae BOE5, and Cupriavidus oxalaticus BOE300. In addition to 2-BE, all isolated strains were able to grow on 2-ethoxyethanol and 2-propoxyethanol, ethanol, n-hexanol, ethyl acetate, 2-butoxyacetic acid (2-BAA), glyoxylic acid, and n-butanol. Apart from the only gram-positive strain isolated, BOE5, none of the strains were able to grow on the nonpolar ethers diethyl ether, di-n-butyl ether, n-butyl vinyl ether, and dibenzyl ether, as well as on 1-butoxy-2-propanol. Strains H. pseudoflava BOE3 and two of the isolated pseudomonads, Pseudomonas putida BOE100 and P. vancouverensis BOE200, were studied in more detail. The maximum growth rates of strains BOE3, BOE100, and BOE200 at 30 degrees C were 0.204 h(-1) at 4 mM, 0.645 h(-1) at 5 mM, and 0.395 h(-1) at 6 mM 2-BE, respectively. 2-BAA, n-butanol, and butanoic acid were detected as potential metabolites during the degradation of 2-BE. These findings indicate that the degradation of 2-BE by the isolated gram-negative strains proceeds via oxidation to 2-BAA with subsequent cleavage of the ether bond yielding glyoxylate and n-butanol. Since Gordonia terrae BOE5 was the only strain able to degrade nonpolar ethers like diethyl ether, the degradation pathway of 2-BE may be different for this strain.

Polycarbonate (PC) is an engineering thermoplastic that is widely used in electrical and electronic equipment. This plastic often contains tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBA), the most common brominated flame retardant. Thermal degradation of the PC-TBBA leads to generation of numerous bromo-organic products in the pyrolytic oil, hindering its appropriate utilization, as well as corrosive hydrogen bromide gas. The purpose of this study was to experimentally investigate and compare the pyrolysis products of PC-TBBA and PC-TBBA + Cu2O at various temperatures, with an emphasis on the yield and distribution of brominated compounds. In pyrolysis of PC-TBBA + Cu2O, at the maximum degradation temperature (600 degrees C), as much as 86% of total Br was trapped in the residue, while 3% and 11% were distributed in the condensate and gas fractions, respectively. In contrast, the distribution of Br from non-catalytic pyrolysis of PC-TBBA (600 degrees C) was 0.5% residue, 40% condensate, and 60% gas. The results of this study revealed that in the presence of Cu2O, organo-bromine products were most likely involved in Ullman-type coupling reactions, leading to early cross-linking of the polymer network that efficiently hinders their vaporization. HBr in the gas fraction was suppressed due to effective fixation of bromine in residue in the form of CuBr.

Background Despite tremendous progress has been achieved in tumor theranostic over the past decade, accurate identification and complete eradication of tumor cells remain a great challenge owing to the limitation of single imaging modality and therapeutic strategy. Results Herein, we successfully design and construct BiVO4/Fe3O4@polydopamine (PDA) superparticles (SPs) for computed tomography (CT)/photoacoustic (PA)/magnetic resonance (MR) multimodal imaging and radiotherapy (RT)/photothermal therapy (PTT) synergistic therapy toward oral epithelial carcinoma. On the one hand, BiVO4 NPs endow BiVO4/Fe3O4@PDA SPs with impressive X-ray absorption capability due to the high X-ray attenuation coefficient of Bi, which is beneficial for their utilization as radiosensitizers for CT imaging and RT. On the other hand, Fe3O4 NPs impart BiVO4/Fe3O4@PDA SPs with the superparamagnetic property as a T-2-weighted contrast agent for MR imaging. Importantly, the aggregation of Fe3O4 NPs in SPs and the presence of PDA shell greatly improve the photothermal conversion capability of SPs, making BiVO4/Fe3O4@PDA SPs as an ideal photothermal transducer for PA imaging and PTT. By integrating advantages of various imaging modalities (CT/PA/MR) and therapeutic strategies (RT/PTT), our BiVO4/Fe3O4@PDA SPs exhibit the sensitive multimodal imaging feature and superior synergistic therapeutic efficacy on tumors. Conclusions Since there are many kinds of building blocks with unique properties appropriating for self-assembly, our work may largely enrich the library of nanomateirals for tumor diagnosis and treatment.

In this study, we have designed and synthesized a low-bandgap polymer, DPP-Qx, using quinoxaline (Qx), a non-alkylated weak acceptor, with diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) as an electron donor. The incorporation of Qx into DPP leads to the highest occupied molecular orbital level at -5.1 eV with a narrow optical bandgap (1.25 eV). The synthesized polymer is utilized in photovoltaics, and the photovoltaic properties are studied. This DPP-Qx with fullerene acceptors in polymer solar cells (PSCs) exhibits efficiency of 3.26%. Moreover, a minimum energy loss of 0.57 eV along with high extended external quantum efficiency is achieved with the DPP-Qx electron donor. The thermal, electrical and optical properties, energy levels and hole mobility of the synthesized polymer are studied and discussed.

In this study, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) levels in soil were studied for a whole year in highly industrialized region of Turkey (Dilovasi) at 23 sampling sites. Sigma 8PBDE concentrations were between 0.15 and 286 mu g kg(-1) and the overall average concentration was 14.45 +/- 25.07 g kg(-1) (average +/- SD). BDE-209 was the most abundant compound. PBDEs concentrations decreased spatially as follows: industrial/urban > urban > suburban > rural. However, there was not any significant seasonal trend except for some industrial/urban sites. In the region, calm weather conditions prevailed during the sampling periods, enhancing the impact of the industrial emissions on nearby soil concentrations by atmospheric deposition without being diluted by winds. All congeners had significant but weak correlations with soil organic matter content indicating the impact of nearby sources rather than soil properties on soil PBDEs concentrations at the sampling sites. Positive matrix factorization method was also used for the apportionment of the PBDEs sources in Dilovasi soil. Industrial activities (i.e., iron-steel production, metallurgical processes, and recycling of plastics), traffic, and residential areas were found to be the primary sources of the measured PBDEs in the soil.

Category: ethers-buliding-blocks. I found the field of Science & Technology – Other Topics; Materials Science very interesting. Saw the article Solution-Processed Ultrathin SnS2-Pt Nanoplates for Photoelectrochemical Water Oxidation published in 2019.0, Reprint Addresses Cabot, A (corresponding author), IREC, Barcelona 08930, Spain.; Cabot, A (corresponding author), ICREA, Pg Lluis Co 23, Barcelona 08010, Spain.. Tin disulfide (SnS2) is attracting significant interest because of the abundance of its elements and its excellent optoelectronic properties in part related to its layered structure. In this work, we specify the preparation of ultrathin SnS2 nanoplates (NPLs) through a hot-injection solution-based process. Subsequently, Pt was grown on their surface via in situ reduction of a Pt salt. The photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance of such nanoheterostructures as photoanode toward water oxidation was tested afterwards. Optimized SnS2-Pt photoanodes provided significantly higher photocurrent densities than bare SnS2 and SnS2-based photoanodes of previously reported study. Mott-Schottky analysis and PEC impedance spectroscopy (PEIS) were used to analyze in more detail the effect of Pt on the PEC performance. From these analyses, we attribute the enhanced activity of SnS2-Pt photoanodes reported here to a combination of the very thin SnS2 NPLs and the proper electronic contact between Pt nanoparticles (NPs) and SnS2.
