General procedure: Atwo neck round bottom flask under argon equipped with a condenser was chargedwith aldehyde 4 (1.0 mmol, 1.0 equiv.)and 4-chloroaniline 3b (1.1 mmol, 1.1equiv.) in 2-pentanol (3.3 mL, 0.3 M) and stirred at reflux for two hours.
