Combined organic layers were washed with brine solution (100 mL), dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 3-(2-ethoxyethoxy) benzaldehyde 3 (5.4 g, 27.83 mmol, 22 %) as a colorless oily liquid.
