The reaction mixture was diluted with water (30 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (2*50 mL), washed with brine (20 mL), dried over sodium sulfate and evaporated under vacuum. The residue was washed with n-pentane (25 mL) to get N-(2-methoxyethyl)-5-nitropyridin-2-amine (4.8 g, 87%) as yellow solid.
